TAR

TAR (Theory of Argumentative Reduction) is a multi-agent debate diagnostic. It finds the deepest yes/no question opposing claims depend on, then tests whether the debate can be resolved — or whether it reflects an irreducible value clash. Built with Python and agent-based reasoning to dissolve arguments into fundamental premises.

Plasma confinement

My plasma-confinement project explored a new approach to nuclear-fusion confinement inspired by the structure of cyclones. I hypothesized that instead of relying on conventional magnetic-confinement geometries, rotating charged plasma could be driven into a high-pressure vortex, with two counter-propagating (converging) plasma vortices interacting in a way that could raise density and temperature enough for fusion. The core idea was to use the plasma’s own electromagnetic dynamics and rotational motion to create a self-reinforcing confinement region. I started with reductionist numerical simulations that isolated the key physical mechanisms rather than modeling the entire plasma system. Those early runs looked encouraging: under the simplified assumptions, the vortex setup appeared capable of net positive energy extraction, which suggested the concept was physically plausible and worth investigating further. I then made the model more sophisticated, adding realistic plasma dynamics and interactions the first versions had left out. The apparent energy gain disappeared — showing that the favorable behavior was an artifact of the simplifying assumptions, not evidence of a viable reactor. In the end the project mattered less as a successful reactor design and more as practice in falsifying my own hypothesis: a simple model showed the idea was worth testing; more complete simulations exposed the physical limits that ruled it out.

About

Who I am when I’m building

I’m Kushagra — currently at the University of Washington in Seattle, aiming for a Bachelor of Science in Physics. I treat curiosity as a practice. I co-founded SATyr, an education initiative for SAT prep (including MindTale, an open-world learning game), and founded Think Tank / Yplex, a scientific community for teens who refuse to stop asking why.

My work jumps domains on purpose: healthcare transparency software, multi-agent debate tools, water systems, lake ecology with government research labs, flute practice apps, poetry, and hardware from logic gates up. The through-line is simple — notice a real problem, learn the domain deeply, then ship something people can use or feel.

Physics is the thread I keep returning to: I’m drawn to the questions underneath a system, and to the patience it takes to understand them well enough to build something useful.
